Red Squirrels Autumn and Winter
 |
Eshott is jealously proud of its still healthy community of red squirrels. As Britain watches the advance of the aggressive and destructive greys, Eshotts reds continue to hold out in our secluded estate. We do everything in our power to sustain and nurture this threatened population and as a result continue to enjoy the charming antics of this most endearing creature.
This is the time of year when red squirrels are at their most active prancing from tree to tree in the autumn sunlight looking for places to live during the winter and gathering food to help them survice the colder months. Visit Eshott and, whilst enjoying all the other benefits it can offer, see the red squirrels cavorting and perhaps keep an eye out for any advancing greys please let us know what you see.
Eshotts convenient location, not only mid-way between the historic market towns of Alnwick and Morpeth, but also mid way between the A1 London-Edinburgh trunk road and the celebrated heritage coastline offers many possibilities to the visiting tourist. Glimpse the sea whilst exploring the estate and have a taste of the delights of Druridge Bay, Lindisfarne, the Farne Islands and the ancient defences provided by the castles of Northumberland Bamburgh, Dunstanburgh, Warkworth all within a short trip. Pick up some Heatherslaw porridge oats and oak-smoked kippers on the way home from Craster and enjoy a wonderful cosy breakfast in your luxurious holiday cottage!
